Founded in Birmingham, Alabama — a city fondly nicknamed the Iron City for its rich history in iron and steel — Iron Tribe Fitness blends one-on-one coaching with group fitness. Because we want you to get the most out of every 45-minute workout, we always provide two highly-trained coaches and limit classes to 20 participants.
This school of elite fitness uses three different standards for evaluating and guiding the health and fitness levels of its privileged members:
1) Development of ten general physical skills…
2) The increased performance of athletic tasks …
3) the development of the body’s energy systems that drive all human action.
The motivation for the three standards is simply to ensure the broadest and most general fitness possible.
Our first standard (development of ten general physical skills) evaluates our efforts against a full range of general physical adaptions.
Our second standard (increased performance of athletic tasks) focuses on the breadth and depth of human performance.
Thirdly, our standard (development of the body’s energy systems) is measured with increased work capacity across broad time and model domains.
Why is this unique physiology better than anything else? Because the fitness that Iron Tribe Fitness advocates and develops is deliberately broad, general and inclusive.
Think about it: If you specialize in, say, only marathon running, what happens when you are faced with an emergency that requires you save yourself, or a loved one from a burning building, car wreck, or need to scale a wall to escape a thug?
Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward a deliberately broad, general fitness, and on average, punish those that specialize in a given training.
Iron Tribe Fitness delivers world-class training experiences to only 250 individuals per location each year, including, business professionals, dads, moms, junior, collegiate, adult and professional athletes, and the average person looking to get in the best shape of their life.
In 2001, Forrest Walden pioneered the concept of a private personal training in Birmingham and the Southeast.
In 2007, Forrest was introduced to a workout philosophy what changed how he viewed fitness: High intensity, functional movement group training.
On Dec 2nd, 2009, he opens Iron Tribe Fitness.
